Simon Cowell is to produce a big screen biopic of late Beatles manager Brian Epstein.

Titled The Fifth Beatle, the film will be an adaptation of Vivek J. Tiwary’s graphic novel of the same name, which was published in 2013. It tells the story of how Epstein discovered the Beatles during a performance at Liverpool’s Cavern Club in 1961 and helped to steer the ‘Fab Four’ to global success.

FAB NEWS: We’re bursting with mirth and super proud to announce we’ve secured the perfect film financing and producing partners for The Fifth Beatle feature film; this team is ready for “action!” Full press release below…

Film To Adapt Acclaimed Graphic Novel Biography Of The Beatles’ Manager Brian Epstein

IM Global is partnering with Vivek J. Tiwary and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment to co-produce the feature film version of “The Fifth Beatle,” based on the life of Beatles manager Brian Epstein.

The screenplay, written by Tiwary, is an adaptation of his graphic novel that recounts how Epstein discovered the Beatles in a cellar in Liverpool and guided them to worldwide success.

You’ve read the graphic novel, now go behind the scenes with a fab batch of videos. “Oh, the places The Fifth Beatle has taken me!” says writer / producer Vivek J. Tiwary. “This YouTube playlist is like a collection of my dreams come true…”

What a thrill to see historian Michael Beschloss in THE NEW YORK TIMES pay fab tribute to Brian Epstein with mention of The Fifth Beatle graphic novel and forthcoming film to boot! This week we also have an appearance by writer / producer Vivek J. Tiwary on “Breakfast With The Beatles” radio show and a review from the Netherlands in the wake of Dutch Comic Con, where we celebrated the release of The Fifth Beatle in its Dutch translation.

In a ceremony last year at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the Beatles’ original manager, Brian Epstein, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The honor was well deserved. Epstein’s early oversight of what many consider to be the most popular musical act of the 20th century led some to call him the fifth Beatle. Some of the strategies he used to propel the Beatles to prominence (while also probably costing them a fortune in lost potential revenue) would be ill suited to today’s world of digital streaming, music piracy and YouTube, which makes Epstein a case study in how much music management has changed since the early 1960s.
