Andrew C. Robinson

I was born and raised in St. Augustine, Florida on a potato farm. After high school I joined the army to pay for art school. In my senior year at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I began illustrating short stories for Dark Horse Comics. Since then I have worked for all the major comic book publishers as well as many of the major gaming companies. I’ve painted covers for such books as Superman, Starman, Hawkman, The JSA and King Conan. I’ve even created my own comic book hero, Dusty Star…

However, “The Fifth Beatle” is the biggest endeavor of my twenty-year career. It’s a 120+ page, painted graphic novel. But the term “painted” does not completely describe the visual content of this book. It’s more like a mixed-media explosion. I’ve painted on wood, illustration board, watercolor paper, bristol board and colored poster board with acrylics, water colors, gouache and colored inks using an assortment of brushes, pens, pencils and markers. And the final tool is my MacBook Pro. With Photoshop and Art Rage studio there is a beautiful fusion of hands-on painting and the magic of the digital world.

This book is the application of everything I’ve ever learned as an artist and a storyteller, and has pushed me to go where I have never traveled before.
